Fantastic place to visit. The restoration has been very well done, and the experience of sailing in the 19th has been brilliantly brought to life. But allow several hours to take it all in.

Brunel’s SS Great Britain is one of Bristol’s most fascinating and well-preserved historical attractions. As the world’s first great ocean liner, this iconic ship offers an immersive experience that brings maritime history to life. The museum is exceptionally well-curated, allowing visitors to explore the ship’s decks, engine room, and first-class cabins as they would have appeared in the 19th century. The attention to detail is remarkable, from the authentic furnishings to the recreated sounds and even scents that transport you back in time. The Dockyard Museum provides insightful exhibits about the ship’s history, including its groundbreaking design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and its long service across the world’s oceans. One of the highlights is the opportunity to walk beneath the ship’s hull in the dry dock, giving a unique perspective on its innovative iron structure. The interactive elements and storytelling make it engaging for all ages, making it a great visit for families, history enthusiasts, and maritime lovers alike. The staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, adding to the experience with their passion for the ship’s history. The on-site café and gift shop also complement the visit nicely. Overall, SS Great Britain is a must-see attraction in Bristol, offering a perfect mix of education, history, and hands-on exploration. Highly recommended!

I've been here 3 times now and still learn and find new things. The whole exhibition, with the help of the fantastic staff members and volunteers, makes you immerse yourself in the life and times of people from many different walks of life in the 19th century. The ticket is valid for a year and trust me, you will want to come back if you can 😊

As part of our company's Annual Conference we booked a tour of the ship. The process of booking was smooth and straightforward. Our tour guide, Jim, was passionate - he clearly loved the ship and gave us lots of fascinating information in a fun and humorous way. I thorough recommend the guided tour and check out the gift shop on the way out.

Brilliant, could spend a few days here. Not just the ship but all the displays and museums around it.

Much more to explore than you might expect! The ship itself can be explored from all angles, even underneath from the dry dock and the decks have been restored to represent the many eras of its life. The sheds adjacent show the life of Brunel and have some great hands on exhibits for kids to understand the workings of the ship. You can also visit again for an entire year from your visit for free!

Brilliant experience and definitely worth the ticket price. We found it really interesting to walk round the ship which has been so well restored. There are also two excellent museums and a chance to go under the ship to the dry dock. Would thoroughly recommend visiting.

Amazing ship. We learnt so much about the ship and Brunel himself. The different class areas have been recreated beautifully, especially first class! Well worth a visit.

Clever design and care for Brunel. Nice and enthusiastic staffs, just like Disneyland. Everyone is involved to build the joyful atmosphere. Btw, you have to go there by a little boat, cost £1.5. I like this place very very much.

Wonderful museum with three distinct parts; the history of the ship, the ship itself and the life of its designer, Isambard Kingdom Bunel. All three are incredibly interesting and present information really well. There are little activities and interactive sections for kids across the whole site which is great. The ship itself, furnished inside to show what it was like in the ships heyday, is eye opening and makes you wonder how people were able to occupy themselves on a trip to Australia. There are staff and volunteers throughout the site who are friendly and knowledgeable and were always willing to help. There is a small cafe on site that was perfectly adequate but did struggle slightly with the lunch rush. I spent roughly 4 hours going around and had a great day. One of the best museums I've been to.

For me, a must visit, should you find yourself in Bristol and time on your hands. I'm full of admiration for the work that's gone into bringing the story of this historically special, vessel to all today while protecting it for future generations..

A very important piece of maritime history. So good it was saved for us to see. Particularly enjoyed the Brunel talk which I could see had the children enthralled.
